All of the plastics Agrecovery collects is processed right here in New Zealand. We do not ship our plastics overseas to add value to it. All the agrichemical containers we collect are picked up by our mobile shredding truck. We shred the plastic containers and deliver to Astron Plastics who granulate the plastic into smaller pieces and then clean it to remove labels, chemical residue and dirt.

After the plastic is cleaned it is extruded into small resin pallets before being used to make an underground c able cover. This is a protector sheets which is laid over the top of utility cables to protect them from the damage caused by diggers and other heavy equipment.  To ensure the cable cover can withstand the expected rigours, Astron Plastics use advanced penetration testing technology and ensure compliance with the strict standards of ASNZ 4702-2000

Underground cable cover is a good end use for the agrichemical container plastic Agrecovery collects.

Silage Wrap

We don’t have any processing capability to add value to collected silage wrap here in New Zealand. Not at the moment anyway. Silage wrap when collected is heavily contaminated with dirt and water. The plastics need to be cleaned before it can be extruded into new products.

Agrecovery has completed a feasibility study into new Dry wash technology which can clean the plastics without using any water. This new technology is being brought to New Zealand by Agrecovery so we can add value to the silage wrap we collect. In the meantime we are stock piling the wrap until we have our own processing capability.
