Other Products
Agrecovery is helping farmers and growers battle with persistent waste on their properties by offering responsible, sustainable waste recovery solutions for a growing list of products.
Agrecovery already offers recycling and recovery programmes for containers, silage wrap, crop protection net and unwanted chemicals, and demand for new programmes to deal with other persistent waste continues to grow.

Drums
Every year thousands of drums containing agrichemicals, animal health and dairy hygiene products are shipped nationwide; another persistent farm waste for New Zealand’s farmers and growers.
The Agrecovery Drum recovery programme provides on property collection of plastic or steel drums over 60 litres in size.
Drums will be:
- recycled to approved end use applications, or
- reconditioned for reuse by New Zealand based manufacturers / fillers, or
- supplied back to brand owners where demand exists.
Listed below are the brand owners or products which are part of the Agrecovery Drum programme. Drums from these brand owners or products can be collected for FREE from your property.
To book your drums for collection, click here to download the drums booking form or call us for the booking form on 0800 247 326.
This fully compliant programme complements the existing Agrecovery Container recycling programme. Terms and conditions apply.
Brand owners:
- To register your interest in the Agrecovery Drums programme or purchase “Free Collection” stickers to place on your drums, email Gareth Mentzer or freephone 0800 247 326.
Horticultural Films
Growers across the country use thousands of kilometres of ground films and covers every year in order to create ideal growing conditions for melons, strawberries, squash and other crops.
Agrecovery can help recycle many of these films.
Due to the heavily contaminated nature of many of these films (mainly soil, water and plant matter) Agrecovery deals with each grower separately to try to find the best solution for their plastic.
To discuss the recycling of your films, contact us by freephone 0800 247 326 or email info@agrecovery.co.nz.
Shrink Wrap / Pallet Wrap
For many rural retailers, packhouses and other primary sector operators the disposal of shrink wrap or pallet wrap is expensive. Most waste disposal companies charge by volume and, while lightweight, pallet wrap is bulky.
Agrecovery can provide a simple solution for this waste using the bin and bag recycling system.
Simply purchase a bin and large recycling bag to store shrink wrap prior to collection. Once the large bag is full, the 1.3m3 bin opens fully to allow easy removal of the bag. The snug fitting lid latches onto the bin to keep moisture and other contaminates out.
Placing the bin and bag on a pallet allows the unit to be easily moved around your site and facilitates loading of the bag onto the collection vehicle.
Bin cost $550.00 + GST (RRP)
Large bag cost $69.00 + GST (RRP)

CCA Treated Timber
CCA treated timber is a growing problem particularly for horticulture and viticulture and organic farms.
Agrecovery is working with stakeholders to develop a programme which will address both viable solutions for removed posts avoiding landfill or other unsatisfactory outcomes and, at the same time, provide pathways to viable alternative products that do not carry the same risks to the environment.

Alternative Bedding Materials
Approximately one third of the dairy herd in NZ (1.6m cows) are wintered off pasture to varying degrees. Around one sixth of those (250k) are under cover, the balance on open pad systems.
A common bedding material is bark chip which has challenges in terms of availability, accelerated breakdown and the formation of a pan below the surface within short timeframes.
Agrecovery, in association with DairyNZ and a panel of experts (yet to be appointed), are investigating the development of an alternative bedding using waste products from agriculture.
