Step 2 : Prepare your plastic for recycling
Silage Wrap, Bale Net and Pit Covers:
All material must meet the Agrecovery Acceptance Criteria.
After cutting the wrap from the bale:
- Separate the bale net from the wrap
- Shake, roll and stuff the wrap into the bag
- Shake the net and place it in a separate bag from your silage wrap and pit covers

Wrap needn't be "clean and dry", but the cleaner and drier, the more you'll fit in the bag and the more effectively it can be recycled.
Pit covers - these can be cut into strips to make it easier to put in the recycling bags or they can be accepted whole - contact Agrecovery for details and costs of collection of whole covers.
Fiber Fresh Feed bags:
- Shake the empty bags to remove any organic matter
- Stuff the feed bags in the recycling bag
Silage wrap, pit covers and Fiber Fresh feed bags can be placed in the same bag. Bale net must be in a separate bag. String or twine is not accepted.

What happens to my wrap?
Wrap collected by Agrecovery is consolidated and exported to Asia where it is recycled into a range of suitable products such as plastic sheeting.
There is currently no processing capacity in New Zealand to handle this type of plastic and we are working with the industry to come up with a New Zealand recycling opportunity.
